BUSINESS DRIVEN BY NEED SERIES
BUSINESS IN a country for no man
How to thrive in-spite of the eco-systematic Designs, built into Africa, to kill the "African Dream"
Tues.Nov.21.2023 - Ubochi Orie
Nigeria And Much Of Africa, Provides No Incentive For Business Loyalty.
For your very high taxes you barely get the basics of security, you provide your own power and yet are regulated on the ability to do so, you get nothing from the government but bills and paper work and complying with the law is much more expensive than "filling a few pockets" like your neighbors do.
Business in Nigeria frustrates you at minimum, tries to corrupt you at every turn and if you are! not careful "success might literally, kill you".
And yet you want to stay here and invest? hmm, good for you, come along let me show you why "the diamond is always in the rough".
A Hard Worker In Africa, Who Is Honest, Consistent And The Best At What He Does Will Have For Clients Even Those That Steal The Common Wealth Because No Class In Liquidation 101 Teaches You How To Build A Hospital, School, Farm, Church Or Anything That Is Built On The Basis Of Substance And Excellence.
Nigeria And Much Of Africa, Provides No Incentive For Business Loyalty.
In countries like Switzerland and Luxembourg, business thrives on the basis of active legislative attempts to protect investor identity, robust Judicial speed and an active foreign policy geared to neutralizing nationalist policies' impact on the domicile of their businesses in these countries.
In Countries like China Infrastructure Social Incentives, Long Arm Political Muscle, low wages and other structural advantage make the ease of doing business and the net cooperative advantage an enabling use case that encourages investment, even from corporations and entrepreneurs from hostile nations.
Countries like the United Arab Emirates and Ireland have allowed themselves to be low tax destinations, provided social environments synergetic to deal making and massively advertised their advantages and interests in partnering with corporations and entrepreneurs.
America, the landlord of global capital has covered all of the above, with New York as a head office for finance, Los Angeles as a head office for media, Northern California as the head office for technology, texas as the head office for petrochemicals and on and on.
What has Africa done? Well it copies their policies but not their road network, power grid, judicial efficiency, district Zoning Compliance or any of the positives, just the controls, the powers, the taxes, the licenses, the rules and regulations without the supporting cast of government participation in creating the enabling environments for enterprise success.
It becomes easier to relocate to these places and start as a worker, then build capital and Onboard your enterprise than to war in your youth in Africa only to have all your efforts Deflated by some inflated Bureaucrat in a heat of hasty execution of a demolition order, designed to please global master without Recourse to due diligence and considerations for the fair use of land and resources inline with their deficits in Providing the businesses they accuse of non-compliance with any resources that meet the expectations of a government.
Having failed to aid you, they are willing at the pleasure of the World economic Forum, United Nations, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation or any other parties they please to institute a duplicate Covid-19 shut down for a simple fly killer and in the end murder your business, the livelihoods and actual lives of millions of Nigerians.
Run if you can, but if you still insist on being here, follow the steps below and not only will you not die here, but you will make a killing.
STEP 1: WHO E DEY WOK FOR? - DON'T TAKE IT PERSONAL.
This country is not working for any f**king man, and therefore you must build your business with the understanding that it is going to operate in the midst of an enterprise desert. This desert has no Oasis, you must create it.
In a country were to run a hotel you must turn into a Security outfit, Power company, Water Board, Food Inspector and Human lie detector, most people want to take their business elsewhere. Many make the mistake of claiming it is better for the Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba, more accessible for the Christian, Muslim or ARO, suited for the AMORC, Freemason or Pirates, built for the Policial, Entrepreneurial or Social... Oga, this is a country for no man.
How many businesses built by former Ministers, Governors and Presidents are now totally dead?, how many Church, Mosque or Traditionalist supported schools are leading the world?, how many Pirates are listed in the world's richest list?, or is it the Ogboni that are there?, or the Nigerian Mason?.
Oga, Oga, Boss, Baba, Otunba, Chief, how many times did I call you, Saraki, this country and continent, it is "built for no man".
Ekene Dili Chukwu Motors, King of transport in 2000, extinct by 2010. M.K.O Abiola, the Billionaire, King of Conglomeration in 1995, Empire extinct by 2005. The empire of Alhaji Mai Deribe may still have some cashflow, but what single product in the market place can be credited to the legacy of this great scion?
Nigeria is a graveyard, even for the greatest achievers. And no, you should not run - you can make it, if you take their stories as examples both of what to do and of what not to do and more importantly as an acknowledgement that even if the game is rigged, it is rigged against all of us. And yes the game is rigged.
STEP 2: PICK A SIDE - JAPA, WRAPPER OR JAJA
africa is rigged by Western hegemony to extract every imaginable value out of Africa, while returning for us merchants of destiny, that thrive in their time by renewing the bond on the lives and livelihoods of their people.
In essence, the lack of legacy in Africa is not an accident, it is part of the design.
If the King's of Africa don't get to keep the gold acquired by following the traditional models of this country for no man, why do you think you can?. There are no King's here, only servants of Colonial designs and they succeed in their time but cannot sustain a legacy on desert sand.
Pick a side, success in Africa demands alignment with 1 of three sides.
Option 1: Japa - This is the easiest option. Simple work to get a passport and relocate to any working country and find your lot there, but be careful, you may get stuck and your children may not visit as you retire in your old age to a village that only values you as a guage of the exchange rate.
Option 2: Wrapper - This is the most instantly lucrative. Simple adjust to any whether mentality, become a Dog that eats Dog and climb the ladder of Nigeria in Politics, Enterprise, or Social Orders. You can even do yahooery, Skill, Kill and cheat, Africa does not imprison criminals for crimes because the greatest crime in Africa is poverty, that is Unless you make the mistake of Evans and kidnap fellow criminals of the non-poor cadre. However, it is important to note that all of these are part of the design, no matter your wealth, you have only succeeded in being a "Colonial Wrapper" for the masters f**king your people.
Option 3: Jaja - This is the hardest option, While Jubo Jubogha aka "King Jaja of Opobo" died in the hands of the British as you very much may, he also lived a full life and remains a record of African excellence. In his time in the 1800's he directly controlled his trade with the british and employed whites for education, he bared middle men and european traders and dominated his territory as a true king at the height of the British incursion into African and In-spite of his Territory being located on the ocean and being exposed to Portuguese traders for over 200 years. Jaja, pick your people, set your terms and damn the idea of being a rapper, and if you must japa, let them ship you off by force.
If you picked to Japa, good luck, please make sure to make massive remittances to Africa so that we can build houses for you at tripple the cost and use you as a clutch to manage this madness. If you can, bring home some foreign investors so that we can milk them in millions, as your $500 a month housing project is not a good way to build your people.
If you picked to Wrapper, hug yourself because you are on your own and are gearing up to be part of the problem, as such I cannot offer you any advice on how to rape my people. I rather hope that your Western, Asian or any other foreign sodomizers will have big requests from your Mental, Physical and Spiritual Rectum and are not easily satiated with your back breaking Commitment to the destruction of your people.
If you picked to Jaja, King here, at your service, let me show you how we rule the world of business, in A Country for No Man.
STEP 3: DIS AIN'T YO DADDY COUNTRY - REBUILD
every game has its rules, and in the "Developed" Countries we talked about, the rules are clear. In Africa however, the rules on paper are not the rules that apply because "DIS AIN'T YO DADDY COUNTRY".
Now, now, don't take offense, I know that these are the lands of your fathers, but these lands have been in foreign hands long enough to be confused about who owns the harvest. From the land use acts, to the invasion of internal home decisions, to complex over regulation of enterprises and innovation, the legal, regulatory and governance, systems, models and modalities of Africa are by design set to ensure that the best parts of your harvest make it to the United Kingdom and friends.
While we are citizens of African nations, african nations are not countries build for us, they are rather the containers of western colonial subjugation of our Land, People and Cultures to 200 years of repurposing that has turned us into mines of mineral, Men and Political Leverage for global assaults on international organizations like the united Nations.
Our nations hold their reserves in Western Currencies, even though we are owners of Gold, Diamond, Oil etc., all reserve assets.
Our people import furniture made of Teak wood (Iroko, f**king Iroko), and we pay way more for it than Any thing carved by our beloved Brothers of "Local" Iroko wood, common Iroko. I always wonder the difference between Mahagony that has gone to Britain and the local one that has not seen visa to travel. Does the round trip improve the quality of the wood?
In Africa there is not ONE single brand of clothing, Watches, Matches, Pencils, Plastics, Paper that transverses the continent.
We do not dream of Airplanes now, are you mad, the cars are coupled imports from china, we no dey even make sewing machine, Textile co, Textile Ni, Adire is China material died with Indian paint in buckets made up American refined Polypropylene extracted from Nigerian Brent Crude.
Abi Slavery no worse than this one. Voluntary servitude, Prostitution.
Rebuild. For the Jaja, there must be a recognition that everything is wrong with the architecture of our nations and our subservience to Western hegemony, exportation of raw materials, importation of substandard finished good, domicile of wealth in foreign currency, inflating our purchasing costs and deflating our sales margin.
We must stop being "Colonial Wrapper" and Build business models that force the lands, waters and People of Africa to recognize that we own this continent and the Yield therein.
Your business design must be value oriented, with a focus on adding value to the lands upon Which they are built, with foreign interests secondary to local extraction, production and sale.
STEP 4: RUN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION - CHESS NOT CHECKERS
They say that successful businessmen travel alot and their wives raise the children, run in the opposite direction. how do you think Ekenedilichukwu and Mai Deribe ended up with extinct legacies. What is it that is new about business that our forefathers did not know, and yet they were home for dinner.
They say that successful businessmen base their business on Economics (the study of Lack), squeezing workers with ₦20,000 a month and expecting performance. Optimizing capital by buying low to sell high, run in the opposite direction. How do you think Africa turned into a trade economy that does not manufacture anything? Do you think that our ancestors God these lands by avoiding skin in the game and foregoing longterm investments for Perceived capital Efficiency.
They say China is the Cheapest, American Standard, German Grade, even the cereal that your children drink are better if they are nestle. O boi wake up, stop importing what you can make in the back yard and stop consuming it. The consumption is how they continue to convince you that is better. Tonight as I write this article my belly is balancing Palm Wine and Okpa with Okra soup. Have you seen me, skin fresh, no cream. Who said Beer was a better diet and that Shawarma brings good dreams. Run the opposite way, THEY say that "you are what you eat", and since what you eat is European, You wear European, Drive Asian, Import German, Speak America, oga the contents of your creative energies can never innovate anything but imagined day dreams of foreign ideals that cannot help your people.
Do you not know that Algorithm is Arab, yet no computers are made in Libya. The most ancient Universities were in Timbuktu and yet not a single leading research is conducted in Mali, The Asanti had the greatest Armies yet not a Single Gun is made In Ghana to talk less of Missiles and Drone.
They drain us by feeding us. Run in the opposite direction of their ideas, the replication of their society, the regurgitation of their philosophy and as a businessman, if nothing else, stay away for economics - its very design is on the basis and logic of your dumb ass, providing raw materials low and buying finished goods high. Finish them, take the raw and finish it, seeking 1st to serve the needs of your people and allowing the rest to pay more for what we make, on terms that you make.
Do you think that Africa has no business logic, yet we set market days and planned for harvest, lived with nature with optimal management of seasons and the resources of nature before a single colonist set foot on this blessed earth, regurgitating Nauseating logic (economics), and redirecting our resources. Check the map, almost every city they build in Africa was by the sea - we were just a trade route and today you all still fight over Lagos and Dares Salam with millions of hectares waste in your hometowns, awaiting the loving arms of Entrepreneurs who care and are willing to walk back, in the opposite direction, to the legacy we lost. A time of Jajas when the land knew, who owns the harvest.
STEP 5: DON'T BE A MESS, INSIDE A MESS - BE FAIR
To complain that Nigeria and Africa is a messy and unfair place and then formulate businesses that add to the mess is an Entrepreneurial oxymoron. Don't be a mess inside a mess, Be fair, clean this sh*t up.
All over the world the cheapest places to buy things are the biggest businesses. Toyota, Volkswagen and Honda represent the biggest auto makers by volume are also the most cost Accessible options. Walmart, Amazon and Ikea, leading brands in retail sales, are also the cheapest options. However, and as in all things, Africa defies logic. While the economics of scale of multiple locations and optimized logistics of big chains should make their goods cheaper, African's largest brands end up far More expensive than the one man store.
Shoprite, Spar and Park N Shop, the leading retailers in Africa, are by far more expensive than purchasing from individual owned stores in the marketplace. While many may attribute this to power costs, Air Conditioning and Luxurious store fronts, this logic does not hold up to a calculator.
The fact is that many market stores have well outfitted stores, run air-conditioning and have by far higher costs of access to power, water and security due to their small scale.
The real reasons larger brands are more expensive is the "economic" mindset of the African elite.
In Africa brand power is used to leverage profit margins as opposed to aiding access, a very African metric that is in many ways a result of "sub oppressor syndrome" emanating from the colonial example of brands like Leventis, United Africa Company (UAC) and the like, which in their original colonial form were Gods of the market in Africa, and delt with the African in the most monopolistic, exploitative and Propagandized models of trade.
Why should you be like them?
Tailor for more and achieve the same or more total profits from more clothes delivered.
Retail to more and achieve the same or more net profits from the satisfaction of a lot more homes.
Design for more and achieve the same or more profits by presenting more businesses on the web.
Be it schools, construction, retail, services or government services, we must value our people enough to use economics of scale not merely as a margin call but as a professional improvement of access to goods and services that allows us to serve more of them for less, in the end netting the same profits or more by guaranteeing a greater service to our people.
That the country places sufferings on you, does not mean that you should unburden your load on the heads of your customers, who themselves are victims of the same eco-system. Set down your load and as you grow, dish out blessings in their stead.
Oddly enough this is the most lucrative options, proven in real-life by brands like Glo - Telecommunications, Airpeace - Aviation, Jumia - Ecommerce, Nigeria's Movie Industry as a whole, Polystar - Electronics Etc., Etc., brands who connected with the people at the junction of Standards and Accessibility and now rule their markets in Nigeria and Africa, well ahead of those who tax us for no just cause. Don't you want to be successful, learn from them, not "De beers".
STEP 6: BE THE BEST - OR DID YOU THINK AFRICA OWES YOU?
Life is not a charity and so even if you were to Japa to America, you will still start with Junior Doctor Dish, Lecturer Dish or Literally Washing real dishes.
In life, you must pay for dues and in a country for no man, the fees are lower because people have more tolerance for bullshit.
A hard worker in Africa, who is honest, consistent and the best at what he does will have for clients even those that steal the common wealth because no class in liquidation 101 teaches you how to build a hospital, school, farm, church or anything that is built on the basis of substance and excellence.
No matter your field, if you are able to create something that is substantive in craft, service or products for sale, you will find a line filled with japarists and wrapparists who cannot make anything here.
Excellent in Construction, both those with stolen allocation and those who bought lands need builders and your work will speak for you in a country for no man.
Excellent in Hoteling, Both kidnappers and the ransom providers will Lodge in your brand because all know that your hands are clean and they are safe to count their money for keeping or transfer in your rooms.
Excellent in God, your church will never fill, lol - this is a country for no man, you cannot build a mega ministry here unless you talk about breakthrough. just kidding, some of the biggest churches are here in Nigeria, pick 7 at random and you will see from what 3 say that God lives here and confirm from the other 3 that this is truely a desert, even for morals, the last one is probably transmitting from Britain, ignore him, God did not tell him to Japa and it is not God that is telling too.
STEP 7: NOW FINISH WHAT YOUR STARTED
Imagine if with all this long talk, you meet me 10 years from now and none of the 1,000 enterprises we projected are active or successful, will you not laugh if your kind?
Theory is effective in Execution, otherwise it is a wild goose chase, and if chase a goose in a wilderness and don't catch it, you will be dinner for the hawk.
Business Driven by need will continued to be filled with articles like this focused on how to navigate specific aspects of the septic mess that is Africa and in the future we hope to put ORAnomics in classrooms, home and abroad. I do not do this for any other reason but so that you can steal from me, the best of how I have survived and now thrive in this desert.
I have made myself the oasis, no longer chasing the goose, but raising it for its growth and in the future as dinner that I do not have to chase down. The hawk is now my companion in mutual security. The sands, I have mixed with manure to make the four walls of my home. I have taken the ill design of this country for no man and modelled my life and enterprises to thrive from the ashes of the Colonial Design. I trust that you can do the same.
To achieve it, 1st follow the 6 steps above and after that, and will in practice, put in place all of the other principles of ORAnomics and your own innate gifts, Intonations, inspirations, passions and visions, with reckless disregard for the known order.
In a country for no man, being an Island is not possible, there is no water here and people will kill you for the view, be an oasis, feeding your brothers and sisters with the blessings that can only be found in your own unique take on Tailoring, Beading, Telecommunications, Banking, Transport etc.
Building with love in a country for no man is the only way to make a Business that is Driven by Need - A robust foundation for lifetime success and a legacy that will stand the test of time.
Do Remember though, Option 1 Japa, Option 2 Wrapper, however if you choose Option 3 and Jaja, you better be kind otherwise "indelible in the hippocampus will be the laughter" from all the Japa/Wrappers if you fail to make a mark and stamp your name in the desert sand of this Country for No man,.
